The Bigs in Blue program is built on the belief that trust and understanding in a community are developed on relationship at a time. A police officer who volunteers to be part of Bigs in Blue will be matched with a child facing adversity in the community. Many children see law enforcement officers solely as authority figures, not as regular people. Bigs in Blue will not only enable youth to bond with caring, supportive officers, but will also enable officers to get to know the community they serve.
All officers in the police departments, fire departments, sheriff’s offices, and emergency response agencies in Southwest Virginia are invited to make a difference in a child’s life by becoming a Big. Bigs in Blue volunteers can participate in any mentoring program in the service area they reside.
Charity Pin Up Campaign
Participate in the Bigs in Blue Charity Pin-Up Campaign from May 8-May 20 at the following businesses:
- Bojangles (6 Roanoke Valley locations)
- 7-Eleven (Grandin Road and Crystal Spring Locations)
- Pita Pit (Downtown Roanoke Location)
Visit these companies to donate $1 to the Bigs in Blue program to purchase your Charity Pin Up that will be displayed throughout the store front.
This campaign comes at a great time; May 14-May 20 is National Police Week. This is a time for us to show appreciation to our law enforcement officers. Our Bigs in Blue partners extended the Pin-Up campaign an extra week in order to raise even more funds for the Bigs in Blue program, which works to connect law enforcement officers and the communities they serve.
